2011 Theme: Empowering Minds, Transforming Lives

Our NE theme, Empowering Minds, Transforming Lives, is our school’s mission and underscores our vision of nurturing active learners and citizens, who are future-ready to advance the interest of the individual and country. We are committed to our school mission of empowering minds and transforming lives. We continuously work towards building a community of lifelong learners and responsible change-makers as we strongly believe that “Every Singaporean Matters” and that every Singaporean is an asset.

1. OUR ACHIEVEMENTS AND EFFORTS IN NE
In 2005, Bendemeer Secondary School was awarded the Outstanding Development Award (NE). We are also the proud recipient of the prestigious Lee Kuan Yew Award for National Education in 2006. In 2007, the school’s efforts in National Education were given a further boost when the school became the Cluster S5 Centre of Excellence for National Education. This has further enabled the school to lead in spearheading best practices and resource development in NE. In 2010, the school was conferred the Niche School for NE status as recognition of its commitment in sustaining an NE culture in the school.

2. OUR NE PROGRAMMES FOR SUCCESSFUL DSA STUDENTS
Students who are admitted to our school via the DSA-Sec scheme can look forward to enhanced student leadership development, opportunities to participate in and organise a wide variety of NE-related activities and events. They will receive leadership training and serve as Heritage Guides. They will be trained to lead workshops and learning journeys for their own peers and students from primary schools. In order to deepen their connectedness and sense of belonging to the community and nation, our Heritage Guides will also take part in community involvement programmes (CIPs), internationalisation programmes and dialogue sessions with key members from the community.

3. DIRECT SCHOOL ADMISSION (DSA-Sec) EXERCISE 2011
With effect from 2010, Bendemeer Secondary School is able to offer admission to students under the DSA-Secondary programme.
